High Key and Low Key Value

High key value:

Critiquing for Assignment 3

The shapes I designed come from the symbol of a traditional chinese religion group Taoism, and the symbol is called 阴阳鱼(Yin Yang Fish). The idea of Yin Yang Fish came out from my mind immediately after the instructor told us the requirements of assignment 3. The whole image is aparted by a curve line, and each side of the line has a circle. The color of the two sides are opposite, and the two circles' colors are also opposite to each other, and plus, the color of the circle is opposite to the background of its side too. The whole image presents Balance by using two very different colors, black and white. You can't tell which color is positive space which color is negative space. The focal point should be the centre of the image, because of the Balance made by the two colors. Also, the visual weight should be balanced. The image may not be so perfect balanced, that because of my unskilled manipulation of Adobe CS5.

Ambiguity

Ambiguity of information, in words, pictures, or other media, is the ability to express more than one interpretation. It is generally contrasted with vagueness, in that specitic and distinct interpretations arepermitted (although some may not be immediately apparent), whereas  with information that is vague it is difficult to form any inter pretation at the desired level of specificity. Context may play a role in resolving ambiguity. For example the same piece of information may be ambiguous in one context and unambiguous in another.

Ambiguous images show more than one thing at the same time.It's an image which shows more than one thing, as a whole. In fact this is the most amazing form of a hidden image. What you see depends on the way you look. They are also called metamorphic images.

The image shown is a example of proximity overlap and grouping-shape. The white and black circles are close together and some parts are overlaped. Also, the circles together formed an "x".

Goal---ART 109

I think it is so excited that something is created by myself. Also, I like the process of brainstorming. It is so great to get new ideas and information. These are parts interest me about design.
Goal 1- Get more familiar with Asobe Illustrator.
Personal tasks to achieve goal:
Read the Adobe CS5 book every day, even just few pages.
Try to practice everyday with Adobe Illustrator.
Ask teacher as soon as I don't know something.
Goal 2- Get more clear aout visual concepts.
